Diabetics at Whataburger

Diabetics need to be a bit cautious while dining at Whataburger. However, you can always satisfy your cravings for a burger by choosing Whataburger Jr. or other non-burger items from the menu.

Foods to Avoid at Whataburger for Diabetics:

A diabetic should resist from ordering any extra meat-based burger such as Double Meat Whataburger or Triple Meat Whataburger to limit the sodium intake and calories. Most burgers except the Whataburger Jr. are high in sodium and hence should be avoided.

High Cholesterol at Whataburger

Calorie intake is the main concern for people with high cholesterol while dining at a fast-food restaurant like Whataburger. Well, you can always try the Lighter & Smaller options from the menu to cut down your fat intake. Opting for grilled sandwich or burgers are preferred compared to double meat or triple meat cheesy burgers which contain high cholesterol.

Its been twenty years since I have been to a Burgerville, horribly disappointed. Cold burger, replacement was cold, too, and wrong burger. Won't go there again.

Good greasy grub, if that's what you're looking for! Definitely a step up from McDonalds. The chicken strips were great, the fries mediocre. The dipping sauces they offer were actually excellent--not over processed garbage like most fast food joints. Try the tartar. My biggest complaint is with the location. There were some pretty sketchy folks dropping lots of f bombs in the parking lot adjacent to Burgerville. I was glad I didn't have kids with me, I didn't feel safe.

We were delighted to see a Burgerville across the street from our hotel. We ordered the seasonal deep fried asparagus and also a pulled pork sandwich. Very good. We will certainly visit next time we travel through here. The gentleman taking our order was great. BTW the burgers are always great.

Can't go wrong with the Tillamook cheeseburger minus mayonnaise add spread! Love the rosemary french fries when they're in season. Milkshakes yummy!

    (4)
  • Ben O.

Friendly service, but disappointing that they don't have a dedicated fry fryer like other locations. Gluten free and vegetarian fries don't happen here.

I've been to many Burgervilles and this one is just OK. It's not one of the cleanest Burgervilles. SoOoO... I ordered the Tillamook Cheeseburger with a pumpkin Froyo shake. Service was fine, but unfortunately the burger was just kinda blah. It wasn't HOT off the grill. It was just warm. The bun was also smooshed....if that's even a word.... and they are skimpy with the lettuce. It was like they were rushed and just slapped the burger together, sat on it to keep it warm and served up to me since I was the next lucky one in line. I hate paying almost $5.00 for slappy-slop burger. If I wanted a burger like that, I could just go to Charburger. The Shake was also a sad story. You could tell they just poured a bunch pumpkin goo on the bottom of the cup and dumped ice cream on top. Oppps..they forgot to stir it. I guess that was my job. Seriously...I do like Burgervilles since they promote local and organic, but come on guys...let's put some pride in those burgers and shakes and make them look edible.

We always stop by burgerville when we are in Oregon. They use ingredients from local farmers. Natural beef, tillanook cheese, walla walla onions. Milkshakes are great and they have a special flavor pending on the season. Right now it is blackberry season. I am disappointed that they changed their chicken strips recipe. It use to be a thin panko crust. Now it is a thick buttermilk crust.

  • Andrew H.

This is just like any other Burgerville: it's boring, bland (much like this review) fast food. You're supposed to feel better about it because it's *local*, and *organic*, and...you get the idea. If participating in arm-chain food politics really gets you going...to the point of having a strong placebo effect: you LOVE the food here! It's like the In-and-Out burger of Oregon in that it has a cult following for no good reason other than it's not McDonald's. So, if I'm such a crab about this place, why do I even go? Well, glad you asked: A) I'm on a road trip B) I'm in an extreme hurry C) Nothing else is open D) Some combination of A, B ,and C

We had the peppered bacon cheese burgers. The gal that took our order asked us if we wanted seasoned fries or regular fries. The seasoned fries turned out to be sweet potato fries. Our daughter confirmed we didn't misunderstand what was asked. The sweet potato fries where limp and bland. For 9 plus dollars we expected our burgers to have more than one strip of bacon and a thin slice of cheese. The beef patty was dry. Daughter had the chichen pieces. They were juicy and made out of good chucks of chicken breast. The total bill was just under $31.00 for three people. Way too pricy for burgers and fries for three people. The food was not a good value. The floor needed picking up and tables cleaned. Bathrooms were in fair shape. We will never stop here again.

Really cute piece of Americana! The style: multicolored chairs and stools, the pendent lights are worth a stop on your road trip This is the best fast food burger you're going to find, the generous lettuce and tomatoes are fresh, the cheese is real cheese. The fries are good. Overall, worth the stop!

Solid burger joint. Great gluten free buns. I loved my turkey burger. The husband & kids loved their beef burgers. Fries were ok. Service was great for a fast food place. I love that they put a packet of flower seeds in the kids' meals instead of a cheap toy.

So .. let's bump gums a minute. I been chow'in down in these Burgerville joints since the 60's when old man Propstra opened the first one in Vancouver, WA. So, some nostalgia, some familiarity with the food over the years. The Burgerville I get to regularly anymore is this one in The Dalles when I go back and forth to the city. Couple times the burgers weren't great, mostly they were. That is NO LONGER the case. Tonight I was in the joint. It was dead. That's usually a bad sign. Stopped in the crapper on the way in, some smoke was in there with his back pack taking care of some business all right, but not the usual business that gets taken care of, if you know what I mean. So off to a good start. Should have just bounced. But my dogs were bark'in and I just wanted to sit down and eat a decent burger, and get back in the boiler headed East. Let's cut right to the chase. The burger was barely warm, prolly been under the hot light since lunch, or breakfast, the meat was comparable to any cheesy low end hash house. You know the ol' "mystery meat" flavor ie looks kinda like meat but no flavor, gristly and you wonder what is was when it was still suck'in air. The tomato was maybe cardboard painted red, the bun was dry. You get my drift. I took a bite and tossed it. Fountain coke is fountain coke but this was so watered down it was more like "coke flavored" watery syrup. The fries had maybe shared space under the heating lamp with the mystery meat burger. They were dry, flavorless and had not been fried or defrosted since hours ago. I let them continue to keep company with the burger. You know, birds of a feather. The high pillow here wasn't hitting on all eight. Dopers in the boys room, Fake, old dried up gristly barely warm food. And I mean "barely". Closer to cold than hot. Damn, the end of an era. It's hard to find a "decent" burger and it ain't like the bad old days for sure. Everyone has a bad day, or an off day. But if you take my cabbage for pitiful food or service I'm done the very first time. I'm nobody's patsy. I won't stop at any one of these chain chisler hash houses again. Especially when it's 15 simoleans for two pitiful burgers that were inedible, a large order of what they called fries, sweet wattery syrup called "Coke" and a milkshake. I gotta send a copy of this review to Coca Cola. The dame at the counter was aces, fast, helpful but never asked about the food when she walked past as I was throwing it in it's wrapper. Get Outta town! I did.

Place was colorful and semi clean, 6 tables needed to be wiped down at 2:40pm on a Wednesday. The fries were hot but Anthony was to busy to get an order right. Meat cheese bun, no veggies or sauce is to hard to manage. The burger was good even though it had mayo, overall it was just another burger joint, nothing to write home about.

  • Rich T.

I have such a soft spot for local places like this. You can literally feel community oozing thru the walls. From the really cool country music to the newsletter about local ingredients to the waffle fries, this place feels like home. The burgers are decent and are locally sourced. The waffle fries are excellent and fresh and they come out and serve them to you. So next time you feel like a burger don't go to McDonalds try a local spot instead.

The best burger sauce ever. I don't care for there salads. Hamburgers are really good. Love the fries but under cooked most of the time. They have really yummy tarter sauce. My husband says there not consistent. Very pricey.

  • Brad E.

I don't write many reviews for chain restaurants. This is the same good hamburger joint as the rest of the burgerville restaurants. The service here, however, stinks. The last time I was there, the soda machine was broken, then the Diet Coke ran out, and the credit card machine was down. Too much wrong for a well-run restaurant.

As a Coloradan, I have not before experienced the excitement before of the apparently well known Burgerville chain, but I'm glad I got to try it while I was in the Pacific Northwest. Lots of the items on the menu were local, which was awesome, and they have not one but TWO different vegetarian burgers on the menu; this is super impressive! I also enjoyed their rosemary fries (they have sweet potato fries in the fall -- I like the idea of a quick service/fast food chain having local AND seasonal items on their menu), and for dessert, the triple berry milkshake, which features marionberries. Quick, cheap, and a much better fast food options than any of the more usual chains (McDonald's, Wendy's, etc). Hoping they open some in Colorado!

  • Tlyn C.

I LOVE this Burgerville. I am a Burgerville fan as it is, but I am so glad they are consistent, serve local produce and products, and have a super-friendly staff -- always. I really enjoy the fried asparagus in the fall. The shakes are good with seasonal berries. Blackberry is crazy good. And it is very cool that the manager does community fundraisers at this location. I try and show up when they do. I wonder if they have a Facebook page, because then I could check in to see if they have specials, new seasonal foods and events.

Turkey burgers, need I say more? If you're like me and you don't eat beef, finding a place that offers a delicious alternative is a wonderful experience. The turkey burger takes a little bit longer to receive than a beef burger (mainly because they cook them to order, I'm sure), so if you're in a hurry, just be aware that you'll need to wait a few minutes. Burgerville's fries are crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and are delicious. They also have seasonal offerings such as Yukon Gold waffle fries, and Sweet Potato fries too. I'm a big fan of the regular fries dipped in their burger spread. The burger spread costs around 50cents, and well worth it. Basically it seems to be a mixture of mayo, mustard, and relish of some kind. Delish! Burgerville also offers tasty milk shakes and desserts. I'm a big fan of the seasonal strawberry offerings. YUM.

  • Alec W.

I do really enjoy these burgers. Lots of flavor, and lots of seasonal specials that keep things "new". The price can be a little on the high side, but most of the time, worth the visit. Is cheeseburgers and fries are not your thing, at least drop by in October and try their pumpkin milkshakes. They really do have the best pumpkin milkshakes in the whole area, and I have tried a few. Also, I have never had a problem with the workers service, as they always are right there to help.

They don't have Burgerville where I'm from so, again, I am reviewing a chain that is new and novel to me! Pretty darn good for a fast food joint, with surprisingly friendly service. I love that there is a box of fresh cherries sitting there when we walk in that they are using for their shakes and smoothies. They also have a pretty good commitment to the environment, unlike most of their competition. The kids actually got a packet of sugar snap pea seeds as a prize in their kids' meals once! The fish and chips are pretty spendy for what you get, but burgers are great. Tried the Walla Walla Sweet Onion Burger this time but didn't care for the whole wheat bun. Gimme good old over-processed-enriched-white-bread-bad-for-you-bun any day. Also it had straight mayo instead of their secret sauce which is much tastier. Maybe someday we'll try something else for lunch in The Dalles on our way to Portland, but we've been stuck on BV the last few times!

This is Right across from where we were staying in The Dalles, At The Dalles Inn... We didn't want "Fast Food" for Dinner, so we went to the Windy River Restaurant. Later on Before Bed we decided we wanted something Sweet, so we walked across the Street & got Some Milkshakes... OMG YUMMMMMM!!!!! LOVE the Decor, Great Friendly Staff & Based on the Milkshake YUMMY Food.

On my way through Oregon, at "The Dalles", I made the mistake of stopping here this afternoon, Oct 6th, at about 4:30 and ordering their bacon cheeseburger...got fries and a drink and it was over nine bucks. For a burger? Seriously? And I had to say "Hello" several times before anyone behind the counter would acknowledge me. They were changing out register drawers, granted, but please...at least look up, give a smile and say "we'll be with you in a moment, sir". And honestly? It was absolutely the WORST BURGER I've ever had. The menu made it sound great, but the actual product itself was hideous. It looked like it had been made several hours before, and it also looked like somebody had either sat on it or stomped on it. The bun was so smashed that the top of the bun was broken in several spots. The meat was what you would expect from a high-school cafeteria burger. Tough. The cheese and bacon "welded" the meat to the squashed top bun. It looked "old". Sure, the tomato, onion were fresh, but the lettuce had "dark" spots where it was going bad. The whole thing smelled nasty. I didn't finish it. I wanted to say something to the people running the place, but they were all so excited about "the cowboys winning" that I just left in disgust. I seriously can't believe that burger was made after I ordered it. It wasn't even HOT! It was room temperature at best.

For a place named burgerville, They didn't understand the complex mechanics of americas favorite sandwich. The bacon was floppy, they removed my tomatoes when I said pickles, and the nutrition grid that they print on the receipt, made me feel like Mario after hearing that his princess was in another castle. NHowever, their retro 90s playlist, did bring back a feel of the glory days. It was great that the emts were already there for any heart attacks.

Stopped in because I hadn't been to a Burgerville in over 20 years. Just as I remember; good, but not remarkable. Great service though. It's the first time I recall someone at a fast food burger joint coming over to the table to see if everything was cool. They made a second trip to bring more napkins. Very different indeed...

    (3)
  • Alex Or Jamie O.

Burgerville was a bit over priced for being a fast food type joint. The burgers are a bit on the smaller side and the fries were smaller portioned too. Don't get me wrong the food is still good, just not for the prices. I will go back next fall to try the walla walla onion rings have only heard good about those but they are seasonal and I went there for the 1st time 2 days after the onion season ended so we missed out.

You just can't go wrong with Burgerville. It is my favorite fast food burger place. The one in The Dalles is always clean, and the service is great. Bypass McDonalds, and all the other big burger chains, and stop here

I first discovered Burgerville on a road trip through the northwest over a year ago, and was excited to see another restaurant in The Dalles (sounds like "pals") Oregon. The interior decoration is evocative of a 50s diner, albeit with a more modern fast-food restaurant layout. They offer a full selection of malts, shakes, and smoothies, which they blend on the spot. They use Tillamook cheese, local beef, and all their paper products brag about using post-consumer recycled paper. I had a cheeseburger, sweet potato fries, and a berry smoothie, all excellent. Their normal potato fries are also good. Recommended.

This was a great discovery on I-84 that saved us from the horrors of having to dine at McWendyKing. We've been to a few of the other locations of Burgerville and have never been let down. I tried the turkey club. It was quite good. It had all the usual club stuff but came with Burgerville sauce on a bun that made it great. We also had a cheesburger and a chicken strips. I might add that it was easier than I thought it would be to get to the restaurant from the interstate. Just take an exit on one side of town, then after eating get back on at the other side.

What a surprise to find a delicious vegetarian meal at a burger place! The spicy Anasazi bean burger and blackberry lemonade could not have made this traveler happier! Good prices, too!

Burgerville is the best fast food restaurant I've ever been to. They try to be environmentally conscious. They serve locally sourced food, use renewable power, compost, were the first to serve vegetarian options, etc. The price is high compared to most fast food places, but BV serves real food so the price is worth it.

Being a small town of 12,000 people, there isn't much in the way of food choices. Lunch was spent eating at this well known chain restaurant that prides itself on serving up locally (northwest) grown food. In season is the walla walla onion rings and upcoming sweet potato fries. They do have a half pound burger if like to live dangerously. They even have a wi-fi internet connection. I ordered the double cheese burger with 3 onion rings. I would not order only 1 onion ring since it ends up costing only a little more for 2 extra. Service was fast and easy without the usual drama. I thought the burger was good but lacked any kind of vegetation. The bun was slightly better than most burger joints but would not win any awards. I did like the unique sauce of a mayo/mustard/catsup mix. I would order the more expensive burger that comes with veggies next time. The onion rings were not too greasy and came with a ranch sauce. I wouldn't order them again. I have tried the sweet potato fries and they were much better.

i don't eat fast food. but i do tend to drink, which means i fight hangovers, which leads to me eating fast food. and when i say fast food, i mean burgerville. doesn't take a rocket science to know the food is going to be a step above the golden arches. you pay a little more, but come on, it's worth it. I love their spicy anasazi bean burger and a strawberry lemonade (seasonal). i have no complaints. thanks, burgerville for being there after i wake to only realize i should have skipped that last vodka drink. :)

For fast food, it doesn't get any better. They serve some of the best hamburgers, and they use all local grown/made products, from Fulton Provision Hamburger patties to Tillamook cheese to Walla Walla Onion rings. If you havne't been here you need to try it.
